From Student Teacher to Teacher Besties
Hey friends!
We’re so excited to finally share some news that’s been in the works for months, and honestly, it still feels a little surreal.
Grade2Guru is now Grade2Gurus, because there are officially TWO of us behind the scenes, ready to share our journey, our ideas, and all the real-life ups and downs of teaching 2nd grade together!
For those who may be new here, we’re Taylor and Kendall, two Texas girls whose paths crossed in the most wonderful way.
A Little About Taylor
Hi friends, I’m Taylor!
I grew up in Killeen, TX, and teaching has been my heart for as long as I can remember. This is my 6th year in the classroom, and every year brings new joys, new challenges, and new ways to grow as an educator. I have my Bachelor’s degree in EC-6th General Education and my Master’s in Educational Administration from UMHB (go Cru!).
When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me curled up with a good book (I’m a total bookworm!), hanging out with my wonderful husband, or chasing after our three kiddos who keep life busy and beautiful.
My passion in teaching is creating a classroom where kids feel safe, loved, and excited to learn. There’s nothing like seeing a child light up with confidence or fall in love with reading for the first time.
A Little About Kendall
Hi everyone, I’m Kendall!
I grew up in Keller, TX, and have dreamed of becoming a teacher for as long as I can remember. I graduated from Liberty University with my Bachelor’s in Education EC-6th, and I’m officially in my very first year of teaching, though I already feel like I’ve been part of this journey for a while!
Last year, I had the amazing opportunity to be Taylor’s student teacher. What started as a professional experience turned into a genuine friendship that I treasure so much. Taylor welcomed me, mentored me, and gave me the confidence to be the teacher I’ve always wanted to be.
I’m married to the love of my life, and we’re proud dog parents to two adorable (and sometimes crazy) fur babies. I’m passionate about building relationships with kids and creating a classroom full of joy, laughter, and learning.
Why We’re Teaming Up
When we realized we’d be teaching 2nd grade together this year, it felt like the perfect chance to combine our strengths, our creativity, and, let’s be honest, our love for cute classroom décor, innovative teaching ideas, and a good teacher meme or two.
